Prior to the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, it was stated that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was a tremendous success commercially for Treyarch. As such, it was rumoured that some year 2 content would be arriving, and today Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War gamers can access some of that content. Alongside a recreation of the iconic Black Ops map WMD, gamers may get a new Assault Rifle as part of the Black Ops Cold War year 2 content. However, with the weapon designed to be inaccessible until Treyarch officially distributes it, players will need to accomplish an odd task to unlock the secret rifle early. What makes the task so unusual is that it is not accomplished in Black Ops Cold War at all.

Call Of Duty Chart Shows The Cycle Of How Fans React To Each Game.

To obtain the new Assault Rifle, nicknamed the Vargo 52, players need to deal 1,000 points of damage in 15 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer rounds. After gamers have done the required damage in the 15 multiplayer rounds, they are free to use the Vargo 52 in Black Ops Cold War. Several players have unlocked the gun in the days since this was revealed, with some even receiving the Dark Aether camo for the weapon. It remains to be known whether Treyarch will officially add the weapon so that players may access it directly through Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The only reason that players discovered the Vargo 52 was because of data mining, as the game’s latest 9GB upgrade seemed strange. Clearly, it was, and players have realised that some further stuff is seemingly imminent. A remaster of Jungle, a Scythe melee weapon, and a Ravenov Operator for Zombies aficionados have all been revealed. Considering that Treyarch publicly teased a new Operator lately, the new content should be coming soon.

Currently, the Vargo 52 is not available in Call of Duty:

Warzone. Still, many seem to be enthusiastic about the new material, even if the existing unlock method needing another game to be played is cumbersome. Overall, the situation is fairly similar to what happened with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s bonus maps, since a few additions were made a time after Season 6 had closed up. These additions were not mentioned, either, possibly so that players would focus more on the actual game. Either way, it is wonderful to see Black Ops Cold War get some further backing. Gamers will want to keep a watch on Treyarch’s social media channels in the coming days, as the datamined content should be added soon. For those that cannot wait to employ the Vargo 52, though, downloading Modern Warfare would be a prudent option.
