There has been some controversy around the Terra Maledicta storey quest in Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies, which is a concern for the mode’s future.

The Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2 was expected to undergo a major shift following Season 2, however that hasn’t been the case. It was disappointing that the Ray Gun, after so much anticipation, turned out to be so weak once it was released. Meanwhile, the Zaballa mini boss’ immunity phases have made it a hassle to face, and the other new Wonder Weapon was found insufficient. Ultimately, Terra Maledicta’s primary easter egg is a huge letdown. Until Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2, Zombies couldn’t have a major quest when it launched for the first time in years. That patience was not rewarded with a memorable journey like the classics like Der Eisendrake. Terra Maledicta’s easter egg is a disappointment on several levels, and similar quests in future Zombies modes are a cause for concern.

What Goes Wrong with Terra Maledicta’s Story Quest: Zombie Map of Terra Midicta
The length of the first main mission in Call of Duty: Vanguard may be its most significant drawback. A player may complete the easter egg in around 15 minutes after opening the map, as there are no creative riddles or unusual challenges to fulfil. Runes and crystals can be activated and completed in the same way as in conventional games. Players must slam four connecters with the Decimator shield in order to complete the game’s final stage, which is a challenge because the shield requires a significant recharge period. In addition to this, the easter egg’s difficulty is a major drawback, since players will be able to breeze through the mission. This is a good thing, but it’s not exactly fun when you don’t have to put in any effort at all to complete the easter egg, like in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Unfortunately, the prizes for the main quest are also not worth it. Although the Decimator shield’s capacity to converse is intriguing, it only has one. There is no reward beyond a few crates, which can be plundered between goals in the normal course of the game. However, given the quest’s ease, these rewards may be appropriate for the difficulty level.
Terra Maledicta’s main objective includes one final drawback:
downtime. It’s more common for players to sit around and wait for the tale to progress than for any other easter egg. The Dark Aether Entities’ interactions are interesting, but waiting for a portal to open as they converse for a few minutes is tedious, especially for those who aren’t invested in the Vanguard Zombies’ storyline.. It’s a fantastic idea to have dialogue between the entities, however it would be great if it was played while the players were actually accomplishing tasks rather than in the background.
