Even though it’s been eight years since the last big Dragon Age title, it appears that gamers will have to wait even longer for the next instalment. It was reported that Dragon Age 4 had been in development for some time back at the 2018 Game Awards. There were rumours that the game will be released in 2021, but nothing ever materialised. There have been speculations of yet another trailer or announcement at every big gaming event, but none have materialised. For this reason, some gamers are disappointed that they may have to wait a little longer.

“At least 18 months away” is what Giant Bomb contributor Jeff Grubb stated on a recent edition of GrubbSnax. But even while it may seem like a long time, it was also noted that everything is all going according to plan, as it’s “reaching all its milestones,” which means it’ll be released as scheduled. Grubb also stated that the project has been in the works since 2017 at the earliest. His statements on this episode have been misinterpreted to suggest that Dragon Age 4 will arrive within the next 18 months, but he actually said that it would be at least 18 months before fans saw it. If this is correct, it means that Dragon Age 4 will not be released in 2022 at the earliest and will most likely be released in Q4 of 2023 at the earliest. Because of this, gamers who haven’t been able to get their hands on a new-generation system will now have a greater opportunity. In order to ensure that the new game looks and plays its best, BioWare has stated that it would not be making a version of Dragon Age 4 on last-generation consoles.

That infamously botched release has left the developer with a lot of work ahead of it. Some gamers have speculated that there will be two archdemons to fight this time around, based on recent concept art depicting two dragons in the back. Even though it’s just concept art, it’s clear how much people are looking forward to the game.
