According to a recent study conducted at the Game Creators Conference, game developers have no interest in non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

NFTs Don’t Excite Game Developers, Survey Says

An illustration photo taken in London on December 30, 2021, displays a screen with a Crypto.com NFT (Non-Fungible Token) marketplace showing gold plated souvenir cryptocurrency coins. These cryptographic assets, referred to as non-fungible tokens or NFTs, are kept on the blockchain and contain unique identification metadata that makes them distinct from one another.

Developers of video games and non-fantasy items

According to a report by The Verge, the use of NFTs in mainstream video games has been controversial. Game companies like Ubisoft had previously announced their intentions to include NFTs in future titles, but this was met with a backlash from gamers.

May 11: New York City, New York On May 11, 2021, an electronic billboard outside Christie’s auction house in New York City displays a CryptoPunk digital art non-fungible coin (NFT). During Christie’s 21st Century Evening Sale, there will be nine of Larva Lab’s CryptoPunks NFTs up for auction.

In a report by Kotaku, game company execs believe that the nascent NFT market has the potential to be lucrative. However, according to a new survey, the majority of game developers, who are responsible for creating video games, feel the same way.

A survey from the Game Developers Conference

The Game Developers Conference has made it a yearly habit to interview game developers about their perspectives on various gaming advancements throughout the world.

However, in 2022, the results were rather interesting due to the emergence of the radical incorporation of NFT and blockchain technology in gaming. The GDC event, which takes place in San Francisco from March 21 to 25, will be the subject of a recent poll.

Cryptocurrencies and Game Developers

The GDC survey included a question about cryptocurrency and NFTs, which participants were asked to respond to.

They were asked about their interest in “cryptocurrency as a payment mechanism” in an online poll. One percent of the participants in the survey have admitted to using cryptocurrency in their games. It’s also worth noting that 72 percent of those polled said they’re “not interested.”

21% indicated they were “somewhat interested,” while 6% said they were interested in using cryptocurrency as an option for payment in their games. You may want to check out this link for more information on how to avoid scams like Ozzy Osbourne’s “CryptoBatz” NFT scam:

Aren’t Video Game Developers Excited About NFTs?

Video game developers’ reactions to NFTs were nearly identical. As a result, 70% of those polled said they were uninterested in learning more about NFTs.

About 7% of participants say they’re “extremely interested” in including NFTs into their games, while 21% say they’re “slightly interested.” Only 1% of the population is already taking advantage of NFTs. GDC also disclosed the responses of game developers to NFTs, according to The Verge. Some people were opposed to the notion, while others were effusive in their praise for the newly developed technology.

NFTs are the future of gaming, according to a respondent. In contrast, some of the answers highlighted the technology’s environmental impact. Moreover, others have argued that it could be a hoax.
