However, as appreciative as he is for the opportunity to star in Eternals, he says that it has been taking a bit of a toll on his personal life. Harington made his comeback to the fantasy genre in Marvel Studios’ Eternals where he played Dane Whitman, a scientist and historian at London’s Natural History Museum. At the end of the film, fans were treated to a thrilling post-credits scene that announced his character would go on to become the Black Knight, yet another superhero adapted from the comic books.

In a new BBC Radio 2 interview, the Game of Thrones star revealed that his full schedule has made him a lousy husband to his wife, Rose Leslie. When the host brought up Leslie’s recent birthday and asked him whether he “spoiled her rotten,” Harington stated that they weren’t even going to be able to see each other that week. He stated on air that they both failed one another this year for choosing work over each other’s birthday. But his funniest comment came when they discussed Leslie’s recent picture, Death on the Nile. When the host asked Harington if he had seen it yet, he quickly labelled himself a “bad husband” and said that he was just too busy to make time for it. “I’ll view it at some point,” he jokingly said.

Harington and Leslie first met one other on the set of Game of Thrones where they played each other’s on-screen love interests, Jon Snow and Ygritte. They got married in 2018 and had their first baby last February, some months before the Eternals debut. Despite their conflicting schedules, the two have been going strong in their romance. Harington added that even if they may not see each other as much as they wish, they still have their baby to keep them focused on what really important. With the House of the Dragon scheduled to premiere sometime this year, many fans have been wondering if there’s any chance at all that Harington will be returning back to the series. That seems improbable given that the prequel would take place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, but fans can perhaps still look forward to his superhero debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Black Knight in the near future.
