According to a source in the industry, Apple is specifically ‘poaching’ Xbox experts to help develop its own video gaming system.

Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision was announced last week. Blizzard’s acquisition sent industry professionals into a whirl as they considered the ripple effects it might have on the whole video game business. Because of the Bethesda and Activision transactions, it appears that all companies are now fair game for acquisitions. Consolidation can be dangerous. However, these kinds of things tend to spark rivalry, and it looks like Apple is planning to join the fray. According to a source close to the company, Apple is considering launching a gaming console of its own. On an episode of The Xbox Two podcast, Jez Corden, a reporter for Windows Central, acknowledged that there had been rumours about Apple creating its own console. It has been reported that Microsoft engineers have been “poached” by the business in order to assist in laying out the console’s specifications. A console is definitely something Apple is currently creating, according to Corden, despite the fact that he maintains this storey has been flying about for some time and his sources aren’t the best.

Regardless of whether the device is VR-focused or not, Corden says he’s heard several rumours about Apple’s rumoured video game console. It’s also possible the console might include a metaverse implementation, he claims. This console may or may not see the light of day, according to Corden, who adds that Apple experiments with a plethora of various ideas. On the question of who else would wish to compete with Apple and Microsoft, Corden said that he feels the only business capable of doing so is Tencent, a Chinese computer powerhouse. It would be intriguing to see an Apple game system, but the timing is odd because Apple could have entered this business years ago, so why now? Regardless, don’t anticipate a traditional system like a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch from Apple, as it would most likely be a digital-only, VR-enabled, and metaverse-enabled platform. As a result of Microsoft’s most recent acquisition, speculation about an Apple console is on the rise. Competition is usually a good thing, since gamers receive the most benefits from corporations striving to outdo each other in order to outdo each other. In today’s relatively saturated market, it will be interesting to watch how an Apple console is welcomed.
