After unveiling a mystery countdown website last week, Capcom made news today. In contrast to expectations, the countdown ended with the unveiling of Street Fighter 6, rather than Resident Evil Village’s long-awaited DLC. Street Fighter 6’s official confirmation surprised some, but suspicions of its existence had been widely disseminated online. A new Street Fighter mainline game would also be a good moment to talk about given that the Street Fighter series is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

A Street Fighter-themed skin pack DLC is coming to Minecraft from Capcom.

Before today’s announcement, a number of signs indicated that Capcom’s next big project would be Street Fighter 6. An example of this was the discovery of a paper in 2020, which stated that Street Fighter 6 will be released in 2022. Capcom has yet to declare the release date, therefore it is probable that Street Fighter 6 will not be released until early 2023. Capcom’s announcement that Street Fighter 6 is in the works, despite this, is a positive move in the right direction.

Trailers were shown alongside the launch of Street Fighter 6.

It is unfortunate that the teaser does not feature any gameplay, which may signal that the game is still in the early stages of development. In addition, the trailer for Street Fighter 6 shows the iconic character Ryu, which hints that the art style would be more realistic than in previous games. Capcom said that more information about Street Fighter 6’s release date will be revealed this summer. Fans believe that Street Fighter 6 will have a stronger launch than its predecessor, Street Fighter 5, despite the fact that it has yet to be released. Capcom had high hopes for Street Fighter 5, which was released in 2016, but it didn’t quite measure up to them. Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition and Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, on the other hand, garnered a better reception from fighting game aficionados. A new compilation of ten fighting games will be released by Capcom on June 24, 2022, following the release of Street Fighter 6. The Capcom Fighting Collection, which includes classics like the complete Darkstalkers series, will be published on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
