Visual acuity is an essential, if not critical, consideration in game creation, especially for AAA titles. Currently, the industry is at a point where it is able to give the most realistic gaming experience in terms of how games look, thanks to current-generation consoles like Xbox Series and PS5. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Cyberpunk 2077 was just updated to run at 4K resolution. This latest CD Projekt Red offering, however, appears to fall short of that. Cyberpunk 2077’s release on the latest generation of consoles gives the developer an opportunity to “get into the potential” of the systems now in use, according to a recent video from Digital Foundry. There is some bad news, though, in that the game’s console ports can only render natively at 1440p and not higher. With the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, it appears that 4K resolution may be an issue for those players who were hoping for a better experience.
Cyberpunk 2077 players want more missions for other fixers.
Since the game’s first release in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has been on the horizon for a long time, and with the team working tirelessly to fix what went wrong, it’s been a long wait. If you were hoping for 4K visuals, Digital Foundry’s statement may put you off, even though the rest of the graphical enhancements have been accomplished, with interior directional lighting getting an upgrade, and even while it’s subtle at times, it does provide a “richer, deeper” experience.
